A Day with Cait Miers

Wednesday // February 11 // 2015

DTS Ambassador Cait Miers has shown us that when you believe in yourself and your passions, there’s no better time than now to do what you love. Her eye for elegance and the beautiful rawness of female surf culture, makes her a magnet for other dream followers. Cait gave us an inside look at a day in her life so that we could see what actually goes on when you’re doing what you love.

Morning

cait miers photographyMorning! I’m usually awake by 7am. Not voluntarily of course, I’ll forget to put my phone on silent and the crazy world of emails starts heading my way as soon as the sun rises. If I poke my head up, this is literally what’s at the foot of my bed. Yep, my work station. Pretty funny actually, for the past few months I haven’t left my room to edit…..

By 9am, after a mindless Instagram scroll and a long hot shower, I need coffee. I’m usually seen at one of the many local hubs to grab the freshest coffee in town.

In summer, if it’s hot, I’ll head down the beach for a morning dip. Or If I’m feeling adventurous, get out and explore on a walk! I think to take in the surroundings to get me motivated for the day. Now my house isn’t near any of these insane waterfalls, but my boyfriend captured this photo of me a few weeks ago (wearing DontTellSummer!) hiking through a rainforest down in the Otway Ranges…Wait so where was I? Oh right, it’s a Monday morning and you have a backlog of 4 shoots to edit..

So editing really isn’t that bad when you’ve got tunes pumping (just how I like it) and you’ve got babes like Soph on the screen. This shot is from a shoot I did with my high school pal and model Sophie D’huij where we explored the coastline and captured the moment. I love the energy surrounding this shoot.

Afternoon

By the afternoon I’ll generally be well and truly over being cooped up inside. So I’ll either head to the beach for a dip again, or just chill and flick through some magazines and pinterest to find inspiration. I love taking the afternoon off and spending it with friends out in the water. Sometimes I just need these moments of shooting for laughs and not taking it all too seriously to get me by.

  1. Beautiful photography! I love how much you incorporate the ocean in your day to day so you can tell you’re grateful for it. I I hope that water color isn’t edited too much; hope it’s real!
