Adventure Seeker: Open to Synchronistic Possibilities

Monday // February 10 // 2014

There comes a point on this journey where you no longer question whether you should take a risk or not, or go on a wild adventure. You no longer wait for them to come to you so that you can ponder on their existence or test the waters within yourself. It becomes your way of life. You expect the wildness. You crave that sense of adventure daily. You wake up believing that something incredible, something synchronistic, or something adventurous could be coming at any moment.

This is when you get out of your own way. This is when you are free.

You no longer wait for fearless situations to come in so that you can outweigh the risk, or talk yourself up into a frenzy before going through with it. You no longer wait for things to be fearless about. You create them. You seek out people and situations that are assignments. Each step you take, you ask yourself, “How can I grow? How can I grow closer to myself? How can we co-create wild experiences that are freeing, fun and make us feel alive?”

Is this easy? No. Is it hard? No. It takes energy.

If I have a feeling to go on an adventure, I will know that it feels right because I will feel this overwhelming sense of inspiration. Sometimes my head will come in and begin to question whether I should do it or not, and I will ask the opinions of others. It is in these moments that you need to get still with yourself. I often close my eyes for this, and get back to the place that the idea of the adventure was first born; from my soul. When I get back to that place it doesn’t matter the outcomes or the opinions of anyone but my own.

Adventure seeking takes energy because physically you are moving. The vibration of an adventure is exciting and alive and so are your actions that are mirroring that.

I was sitting in my room on a Saturday morning wondering what I should do for the day. Weekends are the time where it’s easy to make commitments out of need or with your head rather than being silent enough to feel what you’d actually really like to be doing or making space for something incredible to show up. Before reaching for my phone to check in with my friends to see what they’re doing or to see whether they can create a plan for me, I sit still. I then ask myself the questions:

“What would you love to do today?”

“Who would you love to be with?”

“What feels right to you?”

If there are different options I say each of them to myself and feel what it feels like when I say them. For example, I might say “Go to the beach with this friend” or “Go on a day trip to that place.” I don’t get caught up about the words that I’m speaking, but the feeling that I get from speaking the words. Sometimes there aren’t any options, but having no options at the moment feels right a lot of the time.

So many of our favourite experiences come from when nothing was planned, so why try to fill up all of your time when you know that these experiences come when there’s room for them? With plans comes the feeling of being safe. You know what to expect, and for those who work all week there often comes this sense of urgency on the weekend to relax, or have fun, or visit with friends. It feels safer to know that you are definitely going to be doing something, rather than walking into the unknown with just that, not knowing what’s going to show up.

I love going for things without a plan, or without a deadline. I love the feeling of being able to take any turn that feels right in each moment without restriction. When you go into a situation and the energy of it is timeless, your adventure literally slows down. The energy of it isn’t chaotic because you aren’t trying to fit it into a schedule or make it anything that it’s not. There is no pressure to conform or to restrict. There is space for endless possibilities for you to co-create in each step. There are endless possibilities for you to grow, and you have the chance to make choices that could lead you to something incredible.

The only thing you need to do is make space for the ‘anything possible’ to show up. The most incredible experiences I’ve ever shared with a friend are those when we are co-creating the adventure together, while feeling free within ourselves. When you enter into something both being open to whatever shows up, there’s this powerful energy to it that feels endless, open and free. I love adventuring into the unknown, and when you know that you can do that by yourself, it’s beautiful to share it with someone else. Two wild beings running free together. Couldn’t get much better than that!
